Why am I not happy?
You did everything right. The career, the family, the life that looks right from the outside. And still, some nights, the void opens. The gray settles in. And the question rises and will not leave: why am I not happy?
This book knows why.
You are living as two people who stopped speaking to each other. A heart that knows what your life is for, and a mind that was programmed by everyone but you. One quiet, one loud, both stuck in the same vehicle, pulling in different directions. And a thing pulling against itself cannot move. It cannot rest either.
Passenger is the way back. The author walked it the hard way, from a childhood shop in wartime Kabul, Afghanistan to a thriving dental practice in America, from every box checked to tears on a highway he could not explain. What he found is in these pages: the heart that knows, the mind that can be rewritten, the body that carries it all, and the agreement that ends the war between them.
You were not born divided. You were taught to come apart. This is the book about coming back.
The reading is the easy part. The rest is yours.
Peace like that is never issued at birth. It is walked to.
PASSENGER
The heart is not emotion. It is the compass, the one part of you that always knew what your life is for, buried under the loud voice but never broken. The book shows you how it speaks, what blocks the hearing, and how to let it name the life instead of the programming.
Long before you had a say, beliefs about who you are and what you deserve were installed line by line. Passenger teaches you to catch that voice, recognize where it came from, and rewrite it: catch the program, question it, act on the truer line once. The mind stays moldable your whole life. That is the danger, and the gift.
The body keeps the record the mind refuses to keep. Grief in the chest, fear in the breath, a whole unspoken life in a clenched jaw. The book treats heart, mind, and body as one system that must reach agreement, and gives the body its own practice for learning safety in its own language.

Not a guru. A man who walked back.
Dr. Sohrab Ansari was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he grew up working from a young age. At fourteen, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He put himself through dental school, and today he is a dentist and practice owner in Michigan. For a long time, he had the life. He just was not in it.
Passenger is his first book. He wrote it for his three children, and for anyone who built the right life and still felt the question underneath it.
